Oh What a Web - {Tampa Bay Nature Photographer}

You know I love my macro lens!  Well so does my husband.  He was working out in the garage when he spotted this black widow spider living in a corner hole by the garage door and immediately came in and told me to grab my  macro.   This sucker was huge too.  We found one a number of years ago in a previous home that was teeny, but same red hourglass mark on it's belly.

Unfortunately, my husband also found a roach in the garage - so he became a sacrifice to the black widow (hey he was going to die anyway - just not a boot!).  While I do love to be able to see these small things so close up - not gonna lie - I gagged a little editing the spider/roach shots.   You've been warned!  Scroll down with caution!

Something a little surreal about this one and how they are suspended in the web.

Amazing the details on this small but deadly creature.
I was disturbing the spider, so she retreated back to the hole.

  1. Yikes! Not sure I would have been brave enough to bust out the camera if this spider were in my garage! Excellent shots!

  2. Was the roach the black widow's last meal??

  3. I'm afraid it was her last meal! Growing up we weren't allowed to kill spiders in the house - it was "bad luck." But in this case it seemed to be worse "bad luck" to have a black widow in the garage.
